The Philadelphia Eagles have emerged as the team to beat in the 2022 season. They were the last remaining undefeated team in the league, and throughout the entirety of the season, they did not slip beneath being tied for first in the regular season standings. Not much has changed for Philadelphia in the playoffs. If anything, the Eagles have found a way to play at an even higher level than they had performed through the regular season. Despite this, they have a very talented team lining up against them, featuring the most talented quarterback in the league. While the Eagles have the top defensive unit in the league, there still is no stopping Mahomes through the air. They may be able to slow him down, however, there is little chance that Philadelphia limits him to having no impact on the game. As a result of this, Jalen Hurts is going to have to have one of the best performances of his young career to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Philadelphia. If Hurts is able to keep pace with or even outperform Mahomes on the league’s biggest stage, it will have a major impact on his legacy.

Situation Coming Into 2022 Season

Coming into the 2022 season, it appeared to be a make or break season for Jalen Hurts. The Eagles had made a major trade to land him an elite wide receiver one in A.J. Brown. Seemingly this was done to leave Hurts no excuse if he underperformed and the Eagles likely would have begun looking in a new direction at quarterback. Despite this, Hurts seemingly from nowhere exploded in 2022 and had one of the best statistical seasons of any quarterback in the league. This was even with him missing some time at the end of the season due to injury. Many are now asking the question if Hurts is the best quarterback the Eagles have ever had. If he is able to lead the team to a big win on Sunday, he would likely already claim a title that prestigious at such a young age.

Could Super Bowl Win Establish Hurts As One of the New Faces of the League?

Along with establishing himself in Philadelphia history, Hurts could also solidify his spot in the conversation as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. With the immense amount of talent the Eagles are set to retain next year paired with Hurts only being 24 years old, this could be a team that is contending for Super Bowls every year for the foreseeable future. This could very well be the first of many times we see Hurts in the Super Bowl. If he is able to continue avoiding serious injuries while still playing his dual-threat style of play freely, Hurts could quickly establish himself as one of the top dual threat quarterbacks the league has ever seen. This will be a tough battle for the Eagles and it will take everything that Hurts has to close out the year on a win.
