NFL Week 13: Jacksonville Jaguars at Detroit Lions Game Preview

Detroit Lions stadium

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to travel to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions in a week thirteen matchup. The Jaguars come into the game with a record of 4-7 and currently sit in third place in the AFC South. On the flip side, the Jaguars also enter the contest with a record of 4-7, however, they sit in second place in the NFC North, five games behind the Minnesota Vikings. Both teams are a few pieces away from being true postseason contenders. As a result of this, it may not be the most explosive game of the week, however, it may be one that comes down to the wire.

Jacksonville Jaguars Look to Continue Hot Streak and Make Up Ground In the AFC South

The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off of a very impressive win against the Baltimore Ravens, winning by a final score of 28-27. Although they came out of week twelve with a win, the Jaguars still took a massive loss. Early on in the game, emerging star running back Travis Etienne suffered a foot injury that kept him sidelined for a majority of the game. With Etienne sidelined, Trevor Lawrence stepped up and had an incredible day through the air. He finished the game throwing for 321 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The Jaguars have been in a surprising amount of very close games this season, a vast majority of those not ending in their favor. If a handful of plays could have went their way, they could be giving the Tennessee Titans a run for their money for the AFC South.

With postseason play being a very uphill battle for the Jaguars at this point in the season, this becomes a must win game for them. If Lawrence is able to have a similar performance through the air, they should have no trouble.

Detroit Lions Hope to Bounceback After Tough Loss to Buffalo Bills

The Detroit Lions have been on a hot streak through the past few weeks and as a result of this have likely lost any chance of securing the first overall pick. Before winning three of their last four games, the Lions only had two wins to their name this season. As a result of this, even with their recent string of wins, they are still likely out of playoff contention. They likely will not have enough wins to secure a wildcard spot, and they are too far from the Vikings to catch them in the divisional standings. There is a chance that they could bring home a win this week agains the Jaguars. The Jags have been a very streaky team, and manage to keep almost every game close. After their very impressive performance against the Buffalo Bills paired with their recent win streak, they have been one of the hottest teams in the league over the past month. If they are able to limit the Jaguars passing attack and do not allow Travis Etienne to have a big bounceback game, they should be able to take care of business.
