The Cincinnati Bengals are set to travel to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 AFC Championship. The Bengals finished the regular season with a record of 12-4 which landed them the third seed in the AFC. They are coming off of their second playoff win this season. Last week, Cincinnati took down the Buffalo Bills in a very impressive 27-10 win. They dominated one of the top teams in football on both sides of the ball, and it is clear that the Bengals could be poised to make another trip to the Super Bowl. On the flip side, the Chiefs finished the regular season with the best record in the AFC at 14-3. Last week, the Chiefs had a big scare with quarterback Patrick Mahomes having to leave the game for some time due to an injury. Although he was able to return to the game, the Chiefs still narrowly took down Jacksonville by a final score of 27-20. This is shaping up to be an incredible game with two of the best offenses that the AFC has to offer.
Cincinnati Bengals Look to Continue Offensive Tear and Pull Off Upset
As previously mentioned, last week, the Cincinnati Bengals took down the Buffalo Bills by a final score of 27-10. This was an incredible win for the Bengals, they entered the game as underdogs, playing on the road during a snowstorm against a team like Buffalo that thrives in that kind of weather. The snow forced both teams to keep the ball on the ground more than usual, which gave Joe Mixon the perfect opportunity to become the X-Factor for Cincinnati. He was able to outrush the Bills entire team by 42 yards on only one more carry. Along with this, the Bengals defensive unit took a big step up in this contest as well.
Cincinnati will have to be clicking on both sides of the ball again this week to take down the Kansas City Chiefs. With there likely being more ideal weather conditions this week, expect the Bengals to turn to the passing game much more than they did in their matchup against Buffalo. If the defense is able to force a couple of turnovers out of Patrick Mahomes, and Burrow can keep pace with him through the air, there is a good chance the Bengals make their second consecutive trip to the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs Hope to Avenge Last Year’s AFC Championship Loss to the Bengals
This week, the Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to avenge their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship last season. In that game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled. He finished the contest with a very out of character two interceptions.
There is a chance that this is another game between these two teams where the victor is decided off of one or two plays. As a result of this, Mahomes will have to have a career moment in this matchup to ensure that his team makes another Super Bowl appearance.
