The New York Jets are set to travel to FirstEnergy Stadium to take on the Cleveland Browns in a week two matchup. The Jets come into the game with a record of 0-1 after being defeated by the Baltimore Ravens by a final score of 24-9. On the flip side, the Browns are coming into the game after notching a win against their former quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers. The Browns won the game by a score of 26-24. Neither the Browns nor the Jets looked rather impressive in their season openers, and both teams will be looking to get back into the swing of things in this matchup.
New York Jets Hope to Find a Win Against the Cleveland Browns
The New York Jets are well into a rebuild with a very young roster. It appears that this will still be a tanking year for the Jets, however, this is a winnable game against the Cleveland Browns. If the Jets are able to move the ball well on a very talented Cleveland defense, they could be in very good shape this game.
The Jets will once again be without young quarterback Zach Wilson after he suffered a knee injury. The Jets coaching staff believes that he will be available around the team’s week four matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at the soonest. New York will likely look to the rushing attack for a bulk of their offense if they can find some success in it. With the Browns having the secondary they do, it will be difficult to get much of a passing game going against Cleveland, especially with Joe Flacco under center.
While this will still be a tough win for the Jets, it is still winnable. This may be one of the few chances they have this season to come out and steal a game from a team like the Browns. While the Jets are without Wilson, Flacco is a player that has played against Cleveland for many years during his time with the Baltimore Ravens.
Cleveland Browns Look to Keep Afloat Without Starting Quarterback
The Browns are coming into this game after defeating Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers in a week one game that came down to the wire. They were able to escape Carolina with a win and are looking to continue their undefeated run against the Jets. Cleveland will once again be starting Jacoby Brissett this week. While he did not have a stellar game against the Panthers by any means, he was still able to manage the game and keep the Browns in control. Cleveland will once again be reliant on their running and short passing game to carry the offense.
On the defensive side of the ball, it should be a relatively easy week for Cleveland. New York does not have much going for them in the passing game, especially with Flacco being their starting quarterback. The Jets’ rushing duo of Michael Carter and Breece Hall could cause some issues for the Browns. However, with players like Myles Garrett manning the line, Cleveland should be able to handle the Jets with relative ease this week.
